Never Miss Chord Changes Again
There are many reasons why this can be happening...
One reason is that you are not hitting the chord changes on time...
You can easily fix this with one change to your playing...
When most learn to play a song, they may have trouble switching to the next chord. This article explains why chord change difficulties typically happen and how to implement one simple change so that you never miss another chord change.
When learning a song, many players want to extend the current chord by playing the rhythm strumming pattern right up to the end of the measure. They may not have time to get the fingers in place for the first beat of the following chord. To alleviate this problem, you can easily hit the following chord changes on time if you adjust your strumming pattern to cut the chord you are currently playing short. This gives you time to move your fingers to position for the next chord when the current chord could still be played. It is far more critical to play the next chord on time rather than coming in late due to strumming the previous chord to the end of the measure and being unable to move your fingers quickly enough into the next chord shape and be late.
For example, if a chord is supposed to be played for four beats in one measure, play the chord during the first two beats of the measure. After the second beat in the measure, change your fingering to the next chord shape during the last two beats.
Have them ready and positioned, and then strum the new chord on the first two beats of the following measure. It doesn't matter if you use just downstrokes or a more complex strumming pattern.
This one simple change can get you playing chord changes "in time" and enjoying your guitar much more.
